Police originally believed the girl was six years old.
About 8PM June 6, 2019, police responded to reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash at Carat Avenue and Double Diamond in south Reno. Police found the victims in the street, and found they had been crossing in a marked crosswalk when they were hit by a westbound driver.
The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police. They say neither speed nor impairment were factors in this crash, but it is possible the setting sun played a role.
The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team responded and is looking for witnesses. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Reno Police Traffic Office at 775-334-2141.
