The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the named of two people killed in a head-on crash Saturday.

Shortly after 1AM August 19, 2017, troopers responded to the crash on northbound I-580 near Mill Street, in front of the Grand Sierra Resort.

The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Toyota Camry entered the freeway at Oddie Boulevard, headed south in the northbound lanes. That driver hit a VW Jetta headed northbound.

The driver of the Camry, 21-year-old Richard Antonio Palacios of Sparks, and the driver of the Jetta, 46-year-old Eric Duane Madison of Reno, were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say Palacios may have been impaired.
