The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two suspected inmate suicides that happened Friday at the jail.

The first was discovered about 11:30 a.m. April 12, 2019. Jail staff began life-saving measures and called the Reno Fire Department and REMSA. The male inmate was declared dead at 11:46 a.m., the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

At 8:30 p.m., deputies were told of a possible medical emergency inside a jail cell. They found a male inmate unresponsive on the floor and began life-saving measures. The jail again called REMSA and the fire department and the inmate was declared dead at 8:56 p.m.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner will investigate both deaths.
