Two killed in head-on crash in Lyon County identified

YERINGTON, Nev. (KOLO)-- Two people killed in a head-on crash in Lyon County have been identified.

It happened Saturday, September 14, 2019 on U.S. 95 Alternate near Wabuska between Yerington and Silver Springs.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says two vehicles, a white Chevrolet Sonic and a Dodge Ram, hit head on at about 5:30 a.m. The driver of the Sonic, 20-year-old Eddie James Dunnet of Schurz, and the passenger, 21-year-old Sarah Lynn Sam of Yerington, died at the scene, the NHP said. The person in the northbound truck suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Witnesses reported the white Chevy Sonic driving recklessly prior to the crash, the NHP said.
