CARSON CITY, NV (KOLO) - Two Reno behavioral health providers convicted of medicaid fraud have been sentenced to prison.

According to the office of Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, John and Roberta Pangallo, owners and operators of Pangallo's House of Care Counseling Center, failed to maintain adequate records.

The investigation began after the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit received complaints from former employees that Pangallo’s House of Care Counseling Center submitted improper claims to Medicaid for behavioral health services. The investigation revealed that the Pangallos submitted claims for services with false or missing documentation, and subsequently received payment for these claimed services.

Both John and Roberta were sentenced to 364 days in prison, suspended, and will jointly pay $30,000 in restitution to Nevada Medicaid.
