True Real Estate helps feed families for Thanksgiving

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - True Real Estate is helping feed twenty families this Thanksgiving.

Over the course of two weeks, they asked the community to help them pick twenty families to feed for the holiday.

"There's a lot of red tape and things you had to go through and we had to go through some unorthodox ways to find those families," said Tedd Brabant. "I'd like to thank those people. They know who they are. They wanted us to keep them anonymous so we will but they helped us find those families to feed them.

With the help of Walmart and the need to give back, they were able to meet their goal.

Each family will receive a turkey and a bag full of fixings.

Eight of those bags went to the Domestic Violence Resource Center.

Alyssa Ropell is the developmental coordinator for the Domestic Violence Resource Center.

"These turkeys and fixings will help benefit the domestic violence resource center's transitional housing program," said Ropell. "So this will be a great resource for them and we're really grateful for community support to able to provide our clients with a festive holiday season meal."

Brabant said it was a fantastic experience to help give back during this time of year.

"It was pretty emotional, Eddie Ortega and I did some of our phone calls together, talking with these families...some of them gave us more than what we gave them as far as a simple little fun package," added Brabant. "We want to thank them, the recipients and all the people who helped us."

True Real Estate is also extending their blanket and coat drive through the end of December.

They're taking new or gently used items, you can drop off any donations at True Real Estate located at 460 E Plumb Ln, Reno, NV 89502.
