TRUCKEE, Calif. (KOLO)-- The Truckee Police Department arrested a Truckee woman Wednesday morning after she allegedly stole a vehicle left with the engine running to warm up.

Police took the opportunity to remind people to lock their vehicles if they are going to leave them idling to warm up and unattended.

Police said they received a report of a Lexus sports utility vehicle being stolen in the Meadow Way area. They found the vehicle on Brockway Road and pulled over the driver.

Police arrested Kara Lee Ewing, 36, and booked her into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility for unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, shoplifting and driving under the influence of alcohol. Police believe after she stole the Lexus, she stole alcohol from a Truckee business.
