Truckee hit with snow as summer nears
It was a snowy Tuesday afternoon in the Truckee area.
“I was excited for some warm weather and to get a bit of a tan, but Mother Nature wasn’t planning for that,” said Sky Rondenet of California 89 Apparel in Truckee.
The scene in downtown Truckee looked more like what you would expect to see in January, as opposed to late May, but locals are not surprised to see it.
“Having actual snow is not normal, but it’s also not surprising,” said Mike Guzman of the El Toro Bravo Restaurant.
“We’ve had people visiting from all over the country to enjoy the snow and enjoy this beautiful place,” Rondenet added.
One of those people visiting is Bill Hoover of New York.
“We expected 60- 70-degree weather; we didn’t expect this,” he said.
“This weather brings a lot of nature lovers, and people who like being in the mountains,” Rondenet explained. “It hasn’t slowed anyone down or anything like that.”
