LEMMON VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Truckee Meadows Fire Prevention District says a 13-year-old has been charged with arson for a fire Thursday just south of Lemmon Valley.

Firefighters extinguished the quarter-acre fire near Martin Luther King Park, between Old Virginia Street and US 395, shortly before 8AM September 13, 2018. No structures were threatened and no injuries reported.

Truckee Meadows Fire worked with a child arson expert with North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, and determined arson had led to the fire.

Both fire agencies worked with witnesses and Washoe County School District Police, and arrested the 13-year old juvenile on two counts of arson, one for that fire, and one for a fire discovered to have been started earlier within a block of that fire.

The child's name has not been released.
