Three Nevada cowboys ride in Rodeo's seventh performance

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Three local cowboys got their shot in the Reno Rodeos Seventh Performance on Thursday night.

Minden's Grant Denny scored a 79 on his first ride of the week. If he's able to have a similar ride on Friday, he'll likely qualify for Saturday's Championship Finals.

Jake Brown had the best score of the night with an 83.5.

Winnemucca's Mitch Pollock got bucked off in his saddle bronc ride. Heath DeMoss had the best ride of the week, scoring an 87.5. He's got a great shot at the Finals.

Reno's Will Morris got a no score in bull riding. Layne Steven Ward had the top ride of the night, scoring 82 points. That's tied for the sixth best score of the week. The top 12 make it to Saturday.

Kelly Tovar jumped into first place overall in the barrel race. She also won the go-round, finishing in 17.27 seconds to give her a time of 34.27 seconds on two rides.

Cody Cabral won steer wrestling at 4.9 seconds. His 9.9 total has him in fourth place overall.

Garrett Tonozzi and Wyatt Cox finished first in team roping at 6.4 seconds. Their 11.7 total has them tied for eighth place in the average.

There was a tie in the tie-down roping on Thursday night. Martin Cooper and Ryan Jarrett both finished their runs in 9.1 seconds.
