4th suspect arrested in retail theft ring

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - Four people are in custody and one is being sought in connection with a widespread retail theft ring in Washoe County.

The Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program team initiated an investigation into the ring operating in the Reno/Sparks area. Police say the five suspects, working together, were involved in fraudulent bar code scanning to get cash or store credit upon return of merchandise. The crew targeted numerous Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart stores throughout Washoe County.

Police are still searching for 27-year-old Jonathan Rascon, believed to have fled to California. An arrest warrant is pending. Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is encouraged to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or ROP at 334-3877.

43-year-old Terry Audiss was wanted for this investigation and by the Department of Parole and Probation. With the help of the public and Secret Witness, he was arrested the morning of April 6 and charged so far with a parole violation.

Prior to this investigation, 51-year-old James Hotta was pending sentencing for other felony cases and has now been booked for 3 counts of Burglary, 3 counts of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses and 3 counts of Conspiracy, and is being held on $60,000 bail.

41-year-old Michael Raymundo has been booked for 3 counts of Burglary, 3 counts of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses, and 3 counts of Conspiracy.

37-year-old Leslie Fernandez was booked for Burglary, Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses and Conspiracy.

The ROP team is comprised of detectives from Sparks PD, Reno PD, Washoe County Sheriff's Office and DPS Parole and Probation.
