Student chooses online school because of bullying

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) The Starks family says due to a number of issues, their daughter Hannah has always had difficulties in school, but it was bullying that caused them to choose online schooling at Nevada Connections Academy.

"Someone, some kid, who didn't like me, I don't know why," Hannah says. "I'm very likable, purposefully kicked a soccer ball in my face making me fall backwards."

This is just one of several bullying incidents Hannah says she experienced at High Desert Montessori School. The Starks say the administration addressed the bullying, but it never stopped.

"All they would say is apologize and say why you're sorry," Hannah says. "Then they'd say I'm going to get you back for this because you snitched on me."

The school directed us to this statement on the Washoe County School District's website.

Hannah's mom, Alison, says she's witnessed a transformation in her daughter since making the switch.

"If the kid's on board, it's amazing," Alison says.
