Steve Alford's contract with Nevada starts at $300,000

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The University of Nevada Reno has provided KOLO 8 Sports with the contract for Nevada's new head basketball coach, Steve Alford.

The contract includes a base salary of $300,000 per year for each year of the 10-year agreement.

"Media and Public Appearance" fees start at $100,000 in the first year and increase to $600,000 by the final year. The University will also pay Alford for use of his "Name, Image, and Likeness."

Additional bonuses celebrate the team's success, with $10,000 bonuses for winning the Conference Regular Season Championship, the Conference Tournament Championship and for receiving the Conference Coach of the year or Co-Coach of the year.

Success in the NCAA Tournament will result in bonuses for each victory, with a top bonus of $250,000 for winning the National Championship.

The contract also calls for early termination penalties starting at $8,000,000 in the first year which reduces to $1,500,000 in the 6th through 10th years of the agreement.
