RENO, NV (KOLO) - The Reno Police Department arrested a man wanted in connection with a shots fired investigation involving a Sparks Police Detective.
Jacob Woodhouse was arrested Tuesday, July 16, 2019 around 4:30PM at a home on Jade Street in the North Valleys.
He was wanted in connection with a shots fired investigation that happened Monday, July 15, 2019.
Around 3PM, detectives were in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 610 Mt. Rose Street looking for Woodhouse, who was wanted for several felony charges out of Sparks and Reno.
Police say Woodhouse got out of a vehicle, and when detectives tried to arrest him, he jumped in the backseat of the vehicle and a struggle ensued between him and one of the detectives.
Police say Woodhouse was armed with a gun at the time. The driver of the vehicle started to drive off while the detective was still partially inside. Police say the other detective fired a single shot at the tire in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
The detective struggling with Woodhouse was able to get out of the vehicle before the driver took off eastbound on Mt. Rose Street. The driver stopped a short distance away, and he, Woodhouse, and a third person got out of the vehicle and ran.
The driver was arrested and has been identified as 23-year-old Brandon Orthwein. He faces charges of obstructing and resisting.
In addition to the felony charges, Woodhouse faces charges of burglary and grand larceny.
Police are still working to identify the third person who ran from the vehicle.
The officer who fired his gun was from the Sparks Police Department. The Regional Washoe County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol has been enacted and the Reno Police Department is the lead agency.
The 600 block of Mt. Rose Street between Humboldt Street and Lander Street was closed during the investigation, but has since reopened.
