Sparks Police, Fire Departments get new leaders

SPARKS, NV (KOLO) - The Sparks City Council has named a 22-year department vet to be its new fire chief.

Chief Jim Reid was sworn in at a council meeting June 10, 2019. He replaces Chris Maples, who retired.

Council had already named a replacement for Police Chief Brian Allen, who also retired. Allen will be replaced by Pete Krall, effective June 11.

Allen has been chief since 2013, and has been with the department 28 years. Krall is Deputy Chief and has been with the department 20 years. His experience includes stints with SWAT, K9, dispatch, patrol and the gang unit, as well as a mental health outreach team.
