Spanish Springs JROTC helps family that lost home to fire

PALOMINO VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Perry Fire in Palomino Valley in July leveled what had been the Erwin family's home for more than 45 years.

JROTC cadets from Spanish Springs High School search the ruins of a Palomino Valley home, helping the family who owned the home to find any mementos.

But amidst the ash and rubble, the family knew there were memorable fragments just below the surface. That is why the cadets from Spanish Springs High School JROTC spent a day combing through the debris, looking for anything of value, sentimental or real.

Even something as simple as a ceramic lamb brought forth tears and memories.

The home had belonged to the family of one of the JROTC cadets. While the family does not have the money to rebuild, they are living in a main house on the property that is still standing.
