December 31, 2018, police responded to a report of a single-car crash in the 800 block of Los Angeles Avenue. They say the driver, 33-year-old Victor Alfonso Ramos Eucendo, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado while intoxicated when he hit a parked car and a bear box.

When he was arrested for DUI, officers report finding a loaded Norinco Mak-90 assault rifle, AK-47 variant, with a loaded high-capacity 30-round magazine. Officers also found meth on Ramos Eucendo.

Ramos Eucendo told police he was on his way to confront a drug dealer about a fight when he hit the parked car. Police are still looking for information about whom he was going to confront and where that confrontation was supposed to take place, as well as how he obtained the rifle.

Ramos Eucendo told police he had ties to MS-13 when he lived in Central America, and is a current member of the Sureno’s street gang. He is in the United States legally, according to South Lake Tahoe Police.

He was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on charges of Illegal possession of an assault weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, DUI, and possession of a controlled substance. When he is arraigned, police will also request charges for possession of a high-capacity magazine.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact SLTPD Detective Jake Herminghaus at (530) 542-6100.
