The South Sugarloaf Fire in Elko County, which burned about 364 square miles, is fully contained as of September 17.
The fire started Friday, August 17, 2018 about 20 miles southwest of Owyhee. Investigators believe it was sparked by lightning.
State Route 225 north of Elko from Wildhorse to Owyhee is back open after being closed because of the fire, which had jumped 225 north of the dam in the canyon above Wild Horse Reservoir. Voluntary evacuations are no longer in place.
All campgrounds and other areas closed by the fire have been reopened. No homes burned and no injuries were reported.
