RENO, NV (KOLO)-- A Friday street racing operation led to six arrests, 42 traffic tickets and two towed vehicles, the Reno Police Department said Saturday. RPD and University of Nevada Police Department officers conducted the operation.
The arrests were for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, illegal speed contests and arrest warrants, police said. The citations were for speeding, reckless driving and other traffic violations related to street racing.
Police also gave 10 warnings.
Concerns from the community and by police about the dangers of street racing led to the crackdown. Similar enforcements are expected throughout the summer, police said.
The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety provided the grant that led to the crackdown.
