Reno Police recapture inmate who walked away

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Update: The Nevada Department of Corrections says the Reno Police Department took Vareschi into custody sometime on November 7, 2019. He is in custody at the Washoe County Jail.

Original Story: The Nevada Department of Corrections is asking the public to keep an eye out for an inmate who walked away from Northern Nevada Transitional Housing in Reno.

Inmate William “Willie” Vareschi, 43, walked away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. He arrived at NDOC from Clark County on September 26, 2016 and was serving the final part of a 4-to-10 year conviction for Burglary.

He is described as being 6' 1" tall, 250 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

He has the following tattoos: JANELE on his left shoulder; NATIVE PRIDE on his right arm; NATIVE on his right wrist; PRIDE on his left wrist; and RIP ALAM on his back.

Anyone with information on where Vareschi may be, is asked to contact 911 or a local law enforcement agency.
