WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is asking for the public to keep an eye out for a semi involved in a fatal hit-and-run early Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Troopers were called about 4:15AM to the crash on westbound I-80, about ten miles west of Winnemucca.

The preliminary investigation indicates a tractor trailer was parked on the right shoulder of I-80 with a blown tire. Two men from that truck were on the fog line working on the blown tire when they were hit by a passing truck, whose driver didn't stop. One victim died at the scene; the other was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where he is in critical condition.

Troopers say evidence indicates the hit-and-run vehicle may be a large truck, possibly a commercial motor vehicle, bus, motor home, and/or dually pickup with possible damage to the right front and right side of vehicle. Any witnesses or anyone with information is encouraged to contact NHP at 775-753-1111.
