Boater found dead at Lake Tahoe's north shore

TAHOE CITY, Calif. (KOLO) - The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says a boater who had been missing since Saturday evening near Lake Tahoe’s north shore has been found dead.

A rental boat with 13 people was pulling a tube around with two people on the tube when the two went into the water around 5:10 p.m. September 7, 2019 near Dollar Point Pier, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities say the boat operator, Sayen Sengupta, 27, of Boston, Massachusetts dove into the water to assist the riders. He was last seen swimming towards them when he slipped underwater. He did not resurface.

The search took place with help from the Washoe and Douglas County Sheriff's Offices and the U.S. Coast Guard.
