Arrest made in Reno and Carson City burglaries
The Carson City Sheriff's Office has arrested the man suspected in multiple thefts.
On Monday, January 6, 2019 around 4 p.m. Carson City Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a stolen vehicle report at the Mills Landing construction site on State Street in Carson City.
A white 2014 Ford F250 with matching black lumber rack and tool box was reported stolen from the construction site. This stolen truck matched photographs of a truck used in burglaries and thefts in Carson City and Reno
After witness reports, deputies and detectives responded and the stolen truck was located. Deputies noticed a man driving the truck onto Airport Road. A deputy attempted to stop the truck which failed to yield.
The truck turned onto Sherman Lane and the driver ran away on foot. A perimeter was established in the area. Deputies found Joseph Desjardins, 37 hiding in a trash can in the back yard in the 2300 block of Airport Road.
Authorities say Desjardins was on probation for burglary in Washoe County. He was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, probation violation, felony eluding and a failure to appear traffic citation warrant.
The investigation is ongoing.
Investigators say a man was seen on surveillance video at the Home Depot in Damonte Ranch, and at the location on S. Virginia Street early in the morning on January 4th and 5th, 2020. The businesses told authorities that the suspect stole snow throwers and large tool boxes.
In separate incidents investigators say the suspect stole a snow blower from the C-A-L Ranch at 2035 N. Carson Street on January 2nd, and stole tools from Design Trends Tile and Stone at 2250 S. Carson Street on December 26, 2019.
Investigators say surveillance video shows the same white truck at the scene of all the burglaries. It is described as a Ford F250 with a black lumber rack and a white tool box along the left side of the truck bed.
