RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Salvation Army of Washoe County is underway with signups for families needing help this Christmas. This is to aid those needing help with toys and food.
The Salvation Army is signing up families Monday through Friday through December 7 between 8:00 and 11:45 AM, and 12:30 PM and 3:45 PM. Those applying need to have with them the following to receive assistance: IDs of all adults in the house, birth certificates or vaccination records of all children, Proof of Residency for Washoe County and Proof of Income.
The need for assistance is a year-round issue, but at Christmas the need seems to heighten as holiday expenses add up for families already walking a tight-rope of financial stability. As we get into the Christmas season, the Salvation Army is asking donors to dig deep into their pockets to make Christmas special for children and families in the area. The biggest need this Christmas will be with food, as a large donor has gone a different direction this year and will not be able to support these efforts.
Signups for assistance are at The Salvation Army at 1931 Sutro Street. Those wishing to donate and those needing more information on getting assistance can call 775-688-4555, Monday – Friday.
