A man on parole for a homicide charge was arrested Tuesday in Loyalton in Sierra County northwest of Reno.

Aaron Jacob Walter, 41, was taken into custody for being a parolee at large and booked into the Plumas County jail. Walter is also wanted in Sierra County on a domestic violence charge.

Walter was reported to be barricaded in a Loyalton home at 702 First St. Tuesday about 10 a.m. as the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fugitive Apprehension Team tried to take him into custody. Several members of the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office responded, including members of the special weapons and tactics team, and Walter was taken into custody without incident at about 12:40 p.m.
