RENO, NV (KOLO) - Police say an SUV that was crashed into Virginia Lake late Monday had been stolen.

After the vehicle was towed ashore Tuesday morning, a woman and companions started pulling items from it, telling KOLO's Gurajpal Sangha the SUV was stolen Monday night by someone with whom they had been having a feud. Police confirm the vehicle was reported stolen right after the crash was reported, but gave no information about a possible suspect or the circumstances of the theft.

Late April 15, 2019, witnesses heard tires screech and then the SUV crash into the lake, followed by the SUV sinking. Search crews, including divers and kayakers, did not find a driver, and police say a search of the lake has been suspended.
