Pothole repairs blamed for flight delays at SFO

Pothole repairs on a runway at San Francisco International Airport

SAN FRANCISCO (KOLO) - If you are traveling by air Thursday, April 11, you may face delays brought on by an emergency repair at San Francisco's International Airport.

The airport tweeted that runway 28L is closed for repairs on a pothole. The closure will last until approximately 3pm. Runway 1R will also be closed until 11:30am.

San Francisco ABC station KGO TV is reporting the pothole is just 12 inches, but that has disrupted air travel.

28L is the same runway that SFO had already announced plans to close in September to "construct a new base layer below the runway surface." That September closure is expected to last 20 days.

The Reno Tahoe International Airport website does not list departure times for San Francisco bound flights on United Airlines.
