RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - After being closed for the past month, Reno’s well-known roller skating rink will be re-opening after an interior renovation.
The Roller Kingdom will open to the public Friday night, September 13th, 2019. Owner Brad Armstrong says the biggest improvement they made was to the skating rink, which is now maple. They also made improvement to the snack bar, added tables and a new carpet.
"It's necessary and it was necessary for a long time. The funny thing about the carpet, people would always come in and say 'This carpet has been here for 30 years.' And for the last 30 years, we have changed it for three times.” said Armstrong. “This time we went a little extreme with the carpet, just so they know this isn't the same stuff."
Armstrong says these changes came after they had paid off their loan and wanted to reinvest into the business. All the changes cost more than $300,000.
The construction schedule doesn’t end, however; Armstrong says they will next work on the roof and parking lot.
The Roller Kingdom open at 6 p.m. for Friday the 13th Skate.
