Retailers looking to hire for the holiday season

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - If you look around, big retailers are already in the spirit of the holiday season.

Cassy Taylor is the store manager of Forever 21 at the Legends Outlets.

She said the pressure is on to hire early.

They're looking to hire 10 to 15 seasonal, part time and full time employees at each of their 3 locations in Reno and Sparks.

"We work around anything that they're doing so that could be college or have full time jobs so that's definitely a perk and just make extra money," said Taylor.

Scheels Marketing Coordinator Blaze Hernandez said employees at the Legends Outlets are starting now to gear up for all festivities set to kick off.

"What we're doing this year is we have an increase of events," said Hernandez. "We'll have Santa here on the weekend so we always have fun parts like looking for elves and readings with Mrs. Claus."

It's not the store next door that's the competition. It's online shopping.

Taylor said she hopes shopping in-store will help bring in customers, knowing mail deliveries could be delayed around the holidays.

"When you're shopping online, everyone is shopping online," added Taylor. "So you don't know when you're going to get that package, so come in and see us so you can hold it, feel it and see it in person."

With various positions in departments needing to be filled, Hernandez said they're looking to hire right away.

"So actually on Sunday we had our employees come in after hours and decorate the store," said Hernandez. "It has a very Christmas vibe to it, the trees, lights, wreath so we've looking for a family community when we look for employees."
