RENO, NV (KOLO) - The Reno City Council is considering its next steps after a jury in Reno found the city liable for damaging flood waters in the early months of 2017.

The jury determined that the flooding was not simply from the wet winter weather, but also from effluent dumped into Swan Lake from the Reno Stead Water Treatment Plant.

On Monday, August 5, 2019, the city will consider whether to appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court for a writ of mandamus, which is a legal order to correct an abuse of discretion.

There is another hearing scheduled for December to determine damages in the case.
