Victim in Sierra Street shooting dies from injuries

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Reno Police Department says a man shot near the Eldorado Resort Casino has died from his injuries.

Police identified him as 22-year-old Luis Torres-Mederos of Reno.

The shooting happened around 2AM October 27, 2019 in the 300 block of Sierra Street.

Police say found Torres-Mederos had been shot several times. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but died three days later.

Police say security guards had detained 25-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez a short distance away.

Police called it an isolated incident and said there were no other suspects.

Hernandez was booked on charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm.
