RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A man led Reno Police Department officers on a short chase Wednesday night near downtown Reno after he allegedly pointed a gun at another person.

Stevie Lamont Morris, 27, was booked on charges that included possession of a stolen gun, resisting a peace officer while carrying a gun, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a peace officer.

Police went to the area of Fourth and Lake Streets about 7:20 p.m. April 10, 2019 on a report of a man pointing a handgun at someone else. Police found someone matching that description at 7th and Lake Streets. He had a gun and ran when police approached. Police took Morris into custody after a short chase.

Police say he threw the gun into a yard while running from officers. They found it and determined it had been stolen in March during a downtown vehicle burglary.

Police remind people not to leave guns in vehicles because they can easily be stolen.
