RENO, NV (KOLO)-- The Reno Police Department arrested seven people Friday night and Saturday morning in a crackdown on intoxicated drivers.
The operation was in conjunction with the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Police stopped 35 drivers total and issued 16 traffic citations.
The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety provided the grant that paid for the operation.
Nationally, 601 people died in motor vehicle crashes during the 2017 Fourth of July Holiday Weekend, police said. Two hundred thirty-seven of those fatalities involved alcohol impairment, a 23 percent increase from 2016.
