RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- A Reno man faces two life sentences in prison for having sex with two runaway middle school girls, the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office says.

Joseph Samuel Martinez, 30, faces a March 20 sentencing in Washoe District Court by Judge Egan Walker. He has been convicted of one count of Sexual Assault with a Child Under 14, Lewdness with a Child Under 14, and one count of Statutory Sexual Seduction of a Child under 16.

The case began in September 2017 when a Sparks Police Department officer found two middle school girls who were runaways. The follow-up investigation by the Reno Police Department showed Martinez made contact with the girls on Facebook in April 2017 and gave them rides in his car and gave them cell phones, alcohol and cigarettes.

The girls ran away in September 2017 and he took them to his Reno home and had sex with them, the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office says.
