Reno designer makes debut at New York Fashion Week

RENO, NV (KOLO) -- Born and raised in Reno, Taylor Uchytil, 20, has always had a knack for fashion. She kicked off her career in the 2018 Reno Fashion Show.

"Ever since I was little I always had to dress myself; that was a battle my mom always lost," Uchytil said.

After last year's show, Uchytil went on to debut her work at another show, where she a connection and was invited to the 2019 New York Fashion Week in February.

"It's a dream that came very quickly considering it's only been a year since I was here," Uchytil said.

The inspiration behind her designs come from anywhere. The line we debuted in the Big Apple was inspired by spring.

After New York, Uchytil featured her fashion in an fashion show in Los Angeles in March 2019. Now, she's gearing up to once again be a part of the show in the Biggest Little City in the World.

"It feels amazing, I feel like a completely different person," Uchytil said, "If it wasn't for the Reno Fashion Show I don't think I'd even have a dress made; it really pushed me."

Uchytil plans to continue her fashion career and wants to inspire others to follow their dreams as well.

"We choose what we wear every single day and I hope people are inspired to make bolder choices."

The Reno Fashion Show is Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Harrah's Convention Center downtown.
