RENO, NV (KOLO)-- A Saturday brush fire started by a homeowner burning weeds has prompted the Reno Fire Department to remind people open burning in the city limits is prohibited.

The fire was reported Saturday about 4 p.m. in the area of Sharon and Webster Ways in southwest Reno.

Firefighters arrived to find a quarter-acre brush fire burning on an undeveloped hillside. The fire department described it as burning intensely and towards homes at the top of the hill.

There were two fire engines and two brush trucks and 16 personnel who responded and they halted the fire’s progress within 15 minutes.

No structures burned and there no injuries, the fire department said.
