RENO, NV (KOLO) - The Reno Rodeo Foundation distributed clothes to more than 500 foster children on Saturday, August 3, 2019 as part of the annual Back-To-School Denim Distribution event.
Organizers say there are more than 3,000 children in protective custody in northern Nevada. In just one school week they will wear 7,500 pairs of jeans, 7,500 pairs of underwear and 15,000 socks.
Organizers say new children arrive in the system daily and most of them arrive without the basics: jeans, underwear and socks. The event is designed to provide children with an opportunity to have new clothing when they return to school.
