RENO, NV (KOLO) - A Reno hiker found safe after being reported missing late Monday says he had been abducted.

The Washoe County Sheriffs Department Search & Rescue and RAVEN helicopter assisted in a four-hour search in the area of Horseman's Park near Skyline Boulevard and Pioneer Drive after 67-year-old Juan Nevarez was reported missing about 11:30 p.m. July 1, 2019.

Nevarez was found by REMSA Tuesday morning on Moana Lane; he said he was walking home after being abducted. Police say he was taken by two or more males after completing a hike around 10:00 Monday morning. His belongings, including his phone, were taken.

Police say the abductors let him go after hearing the RAVEN helicopter. His wrists are bruised and his family claims his face is as well.
