Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve Saturday endorsed Democrat Steve Sisolak for governor.

Sisolak, Clark County Commission chairman, and Republican Adam Laxalt, Nevada’s attorney general, are on the November general election ballot in the governor's race.

Sisolak and Schieve made the announcement at a scheduled Sisolak campaign stop in Reno.

“Nevadans deserve a governor who will always put them first and that is why I am proud to endorse Steve Sisolak for governor,” Schieve was quoted as saying in a statement from Sisolak’s campaign. “Steve's commitment to Nevada priorities and the issues that matter most to our families is clear. From improving our education system and diversifying our statewide economy, to standing up for our most vulnerable, Steve will be a governor for all of Nevada."

Laxalt Friday announced he had received the endorsement of the Nevada Small Business Association and in August listed 11 Nevada mayors who endorsed him, including Geno Martini of Sparks.

Among others on the ballot in the governor's race, Independent Ryan Bundy has the endorsement of former. Rep. Ron Paul.
