The mayors of Reno and Carson City are joining with local conservationists at a "Mamma Summit" to emphasize the importance of keeping the environment safe for children this Mother's Day weekend.
Reno Mayor Hillary Scheive and Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell are hosting the gathering from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Miguel Rivera Park in conjunction with a group called the "Moms Clean Air Force."
Its membership includes more than 1 million moms and dads across the country committed to fighting air pollution and protecting clean air for America's children.
The inaugural Reno Mama Summit will include children's activities, panel speakers and presentations from the city about local climate action. Similar events are planned in nine other U.S. cities.
