RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- This holiday season Reno Elks #597 helped out veteran families through the annual Elks Food Basket delivery.
ROTC Cadets collected the food in Washoe County and delivered it to the lodge last month. Forty-eight Elk volunteers filled more than 100 boxes with non-perishable goods. There were about 3,000 pouonds of canned goods left over which were donated to the Veterans Food Bank.
Then another 24 volunteers added perishable food and then delivred the boxes in the Reno area to a list of veterans who were in need provided by Lisa Howard, director of the VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System of Reno.
