Reno, Bishop Manogue advance to girls Northern Championship game

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) Reno and Bishop Manogue will square off for both the boys and girls northern championships on Saturday.

The top-ranked Bishop Manogue girls team eliminated number three Reed 62-45. Kenna Holt led the Miners with 18 points. Malia Holt added 15, while Katie Turner chipped in 12. Autumn Wadsworth led the Raiders with 14 points in the loss.

The Miners take a 16-game winning streak into the Northern Championship Game, looking to win their third straight regional title.

The second-ranked Reno girls eliminated number five Spanish Springs 51-26 in the other semifinal.

MiKayla Shults scored a game-high 15 points, while Kaitlynn Biassou added 13. Ireland Bennett scored seven points for the Cougars, Kierra Johnson added six in the loss.

It was the Huskies' 14th consecutive win.

The girls Northern Championship Game is at 4pm on Saturday, followed by the boys game at 6pm. Both games are at Carson High School.
