17-acre fire burning south of Wellington stops growing

WELLINGTON, NV (KOLO)-- 8:53 p.m. update: The Hill Fire is 17.14 acres, Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center reports.

7:05 p.m. update: Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center reports the Hill Fire has stopped growing and is 5 acres. Crews will remain on scene overnight mopping up.

4:50 p.m. update: The fire south of Wellington, now called the Hill Fire, is an estimated 5 acres.

Original story: Several agencies are responding to a 1-acre fire in Douglas County about 8 miles south of Wellington.

The Boulder Hill Fire was reported about 3:35 p.m. Friday.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said the fire is remote and will probably be accessible only by helicopter.
