RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County is working with the Nevada Department of Transportation to permanently close one of the three lanes on Matley Lane, between Villanova Drive and Plumb Lane, for safety after two recent car crashes into the RTC’s facility.

The southbound lane closest to RTC’s Jerry L. Hall Regional Transit & Operations Maintenance Facility on Matley Lane will close, starting Wednesday, November 21. Drivers exiting I-580 southbound using the Villanova Drive/Plumb Lane exit can expect a new traffic pattern. The intersections along the corridor will not be affected by the lane closure, according to RTC.

Saturday, November 10, there were two crashes on Matley Lane, with both vehicles entering RTC’s maintenance facility. No RTC staff or passengers were hurt, but the RTC says it is "taking action to improve safety and prevent potential future crashes from impacting RTC employees and the maintenance facility."
