RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Travel on South Virginia Street is about to get a little easier.

The RTC has announced it is planning to reopen Virginia Street between Plumb Lane and Mt. Rose Street to both north and south bound traffic by the end of the day on November 22nd. That reopening is weather permitting.

On Monday, November 25th, RTC crews will continue sidewalk construction on Virginia Street from Mt. Rose Street to Center Street.

Construction on South Virginia has taken a toll on both drivers and businesses in the area. That is why the Midtown District Reno is planning a community celebration to kick off the holiday shopping season. Their free Midtown Holiday Party on Friday, November 22, will take place in the Living Stones Church parking lot at 445 South Virginia Street. Attendees will enjoy free hot chocolate, entertainment, Santa, food trucks and Midtown vendors. Midtown swag featuring the new logo will also be available. The celebration will take place from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
