Puppy store owners make their first appearance in court

The owners of two pet stores made their first appearance in Reno District Court to face charges of Practicing Veterinary Medicine Without a License.
The attorneys for Michael Schneider and Leilani Tau-Schneider informed Judge Scott Freeman they would be filing a writ of habeus corpus. Judge Freeman then entered not guilty pleas for Schneider and Tau-Schneider.
Schneider is facing four counts of Practicing Veterinary Medicine Without a License. Tau-Schneider is three counts of Practicing Veterinary Medicine Without a License and one count of Felony Torturing and/or Killing an Animal.
The couple owns Puppies Plus on South Virginia Street in Reno and Puppy Love on Sparks Boulevard in Sparks. The Reno City Council is holding a special meeting on Thursday, September 19, 2019 to determine if the business license for Puppies Plus should be revoked.
