A big addition could be coming along the Truckee River, in the form of public restrooms.

The first

could be installed at Brodhead Park near Greater Nevada Field by summer 2020.

Iris Jehle-Peppard with One Truckee River says the Portland Loos will have a grading on the top and bottom. The sinks will be on the outside.

The design also discourages graffiti and drug use. Jehle-Peppard says there will be a blue light, so it’s hard for needles to be used inside the restrooms.

The reason why some say bathrooms are needed is due to the increased amount of waste near the Truckee River.

Jehle-Peppard says the goal is to have nine public restrooms and each one costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.
