Police searching for man wanted for two attempted robberies

SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - Sparks Police are looking for a man they say attempted to rob two local stores.

Officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery with a knife July 4, 2016 at the Target store at 1550 E. Lincoln Way.

When officers arrived, they learned that Target loss prevention personnel attempted to stop a man who was pushing a cart full of merchandise out of an emergency exit. When loss prevention tried to stop him, police say he pulled a knife on staff and left the store.

Police believe the man left the area going north, near the Park Vista Apartment complex at 565 Sparks Boulevard.

The Target merchandise was retained.

Police say approximately two hours later, they responded to the K-Mart store at 2125 Oddie Boulevard on a very similar call.

They say a man had taken items and was leaving the store when he was approached by loss prevention staff. Police say when loss prevention approached the man, he pulled a knife on staff and left the area. He ran south toward the Lansdowne House Apartment complex at 1215 Sullivan Lane.

The man police are looking for is described as a black male in his 30s, about 5'10" tall with a medium build and a goatee. He was wearing a black t-shirt and dark sunglasses. Police say he also has multiple tattoos on his left arm.
