RENO, NV (KOLO) - The Reno Police Department and SWAT found a man who apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a home in the 1100 block of Sageberry Court Monday

Officers are conducting a death investigation into this matter and the victim’s name will not be released at this time.

The home he was in was surrounded after he allegedly hit his father in the head with a crowbar.

Lt. William Rulla says the man's mother called police around 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 from inside the home. She said her 28-year-old son got into a fight with his father and hit him with the crowbar. Police say the father drove himself to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Lt. Rulla says the home was surrounded by SWAT for several hours Monday night, because the man was not responding to attempts to contact him.

No other injuries have been reported.
