Search called off for man who jumped into Truckee River

RENO, NV (KOLO) - The search for a man who jumped into the Truckee River near the Grand Sierra Resort has been called off.

Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Tribal Police made contact with the man just after 1:00AM Monday, July 22, 2019. They say the man made suicidal statements and may have been involved in a domestic dispute.

Reno Police tell KOLO 8 News Now the man jumped into the river and was last seen swimming down the river. He appeared to be swimming well and was not in distress.

Sparks Fire, Washoe Search and Rescue, and the Raven helicopter were called in to assist in the search. The man was not found.

Officials believe he got out of the river on his own.
